St. Louis University Launching New Cannabis Program This Fall

Updated: Jul 10, 2023

Saint Louis University's School for Professional Studies is introducing a new program this fall for cannabis science and operations certificates.

The university will offer online certification and degree programs for adults that are affordable and flexible for students. The cannabis certificate program will cover a variety of marijuana-industry topics, including: cultivating and growing, dispensing, and pharmacological properties of marijuana. The certificate program takes 16 credit hours to complete and graduates will be able to pursue careers in the marijuana industry related to sales, marketing, dispensary management, laboratory technology, and more.

Since the legalization of medical marijuana in Missouri in November 2018, medical marijuana dispensary and manufacturing licenses have been granted throughout the state, with 70 licenses awarded just in the St. Louis area alone. Due to the growth of the medical cannabis industry, demand for quality talent also continues to increase.

With the first cultivation facilities in Missouri about to begin operations, Missouri's medical marijuana program is anticipating to take off soon, as products become available and dispensaries begin to open their doors.
